Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has turned 40 today, and it is time to
wish the Beauty Queen happy birthday. It was on this day in 1973, that a
beautiful lady took birth in Mangalore. After winning the Miss World Pageant in
1994, she shot to fame and there was no looking back ever since.
Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar was the first film of Aishwarya in her
career. This was a Tamil film. Though Aishwarya made her name and fame through
Hindi films, it was this Tamil film that got her acting career to a start.
The year 1999 saw a turning point in the career of Aishwarya
as her movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Another of her films, Devdas also made
headlines for various reasons. In 2007, she married Abhishek Bachchan, son of
the superstar of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan.
The couple is blessed with a daughter named Aaradhya, who was
born in March 2012.
