Vidya Balan is pitted against pakistan’s
Humaima Malik as both the beauties have been nominated in the best actress
category for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Vidya Balan has been nominated for
her role in The Dirty
Picture whereas Humaima Malik has been
nominated for Bol.
In the Ekta Kapoor’s film The Dirty Picture,
Vidya had played the character of Silk Smitha – a yesteryear southern sex diva.
On the other hand, Humaima Malik was seen portraying a tough woman who fights
the patriarchal society in her movie.
There is competition from other
quarters for Vidya. The Korean actress Cho Min-soo has been nominated for Pieta. For Once
Upon a Time There Lived a Simple Woman, there will be the Russian actress Darya
Ekamasova in the fray.
Anurag Kashyap has also been
nominated for his recent film Gangs Of Wasseypur.
