Deepika Padukone should consider herself lucky to get away
from egg and tomato thrashing in Gujarat. She was taken aback as she never
expected to be received this way from her ‘fans’ in Gujarat. She was expecting
a warm welcome, as the stars generally receive wherever they go. The reason was
the objectionable scenes in the film Ram Leela.
There was a group of protesters who reached the venue as Deepika
was going to arrive there. However, as the producers of the film announced that
the problematic scenes in question would be removed, they calmed down. Or else,
they were just ready to attack Deepika with eggs and tomatoes.
Deepika Padukone, who was in Ahmadabad for garba
celebrations, was at the receiving end of the Rabari and Jadeja communities who
were present there to express their displeasure about the scenes in the film.
It later came to know that the director of the film Sanjay Leela
Bhansali had a talk with the leaders of the community and that he had promised
to remove the scenes. Peace ultimately prevailed after this discussion.
