The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Burfi might not have been in
any controversy before. However, Murphy Radio, a part of Murphy Enterprises
of Mumbai, has brought the film into trouble. As a matter of fact, the Murphy
Enterprises has just sent a notice to the production house. The film is
produced by UTV Motion Pictures as well as Ishana Films.
The reason for sending a legal notice is that the production
house has used the registered trademarks and that too without obtaining a No Objection
Certificate. This is the first time that the film has come into news for the
wrong reasons. There were no controversies associated with the film so far.
Not many might know, but the Murphy Enterprises were behind
the Murphy Radios that was immensely popular after the independence days.
‘Murphy’, ‘Murphy Munna’ and ‘Murphy Radio’ were some of the words used at
various places in the film as well as the song.
The owners of the brand are contemplating of slapping a fine
for Rs. 50 crores. The film production house has maintained their innocence
over the issue and claimed they didn’t infringe on any copyright laws.
