Acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film My Friend Pinto is in the news. It is a sort of controversial affair as far as the contents of the film are concerned. It is a slight depiction of the love affair of underworld don Abu Salem and his Bollywood girlfriend Monica Bedi.The character of Abu Salem is played by Makrand Deshpande and that of Monica Bedi is played by Divya Dutta. Makrand Deshpande is a gangster who kids with the idea of making films. However, he faces huge losses in the business. The frustration then leads him to the underworld to lead a risky life. It is then that he falls in love with an upcoming actress (Divya Dutta).
It is but natural that Divya Dutta does not feel comfortable and secure with Makrand Deshpande. That is why she tries to find another guy for her company. This is exactly as Monica Bedi did with Rahul Mahajan in Bigg Boss.
Though the sources say that the film is not entirely based on Abu Salem and Monica Bedi, there is little doubt that the story resembles it more than one way.
