Comedian Kapil Sharma evades service tax

One of the rising stars of Indian comedy, comedian Kapil Sharma is reported to have evaded service tax to the tune of Rs. 65 lakhs. Things aren’t really looking cozy for the standup comedian and he has been facing a bad stroke of luck.
It was just yesterday – on September 25, that the sets of his new show Comedy Nights with Kapil caught fire where the entire set was burnt down to ashes. There was an estimated loss of about Rs. 20 crore.
According to the latest information from the sources, the service tax department from Mumbai will be questioning Kapil Sharma. However, it is still unclear as to when the questioning will take place. The department has already charged Mr. Sharma on charges of tax evasion.

The stage actor has said that he will pay the tax at the earliest, failing which the bank accounts of Kapil are likely to get sealed. Only time will tell what measures does Kapil take to come out of the twin problems now.
