Haven’t we had enough of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma ever
since the debacle of Indian team at the hands of Australia in the recently
concluded World Cup? In the last match for Royal Challengers Bangalore, the
legendary Indian batsman asked RCB captain Virat Kohli about Anushka.
The question that Mr. Gavaskar asked Virat Kohli was ‘Is she
here’? He was referring to the Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. On camera, Kohli
clearly blushed. He answered in the positive and added that she would be here.
The match was played at Eden Gardens.
However, Gavaskar never knew what those three words – ‘Is she
here’ would land him in on the social media. The legendary batsman was taken to
the sword on Twitter. One user on Twitter commented that, that shows how much
older generation cricketers like Richie Benaud are missed.
Whatever be the reactions on Twitter, it does not look good
to ask such personal questions on camera, especially when the two stars have already
become a target by the people.
The timing of the question matters, because just 24 hours
before, Kohli had come down hard on people for blaming Anushka for India’s exit
from the World Cup.
