Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has said that, if
there are crimes against women why not ban Ajanta-Ellora and ban Kamasutra. She
was speaking in reference to the ‘art’ that provokes various types of crimes
against women.
She further added that only the cinema should not be
and cannot be blamed for the rising crimes in the society against women. According
to Priyanka the Hindi films are meant for pure entertainment. That is why she
asked the question if it were the film that increased the crimes, it was also
necessary to shut down Ajanta-Ellora as well as the Kamasutra.
Sculpting is an art, Priyanka said. And further
argued that if there is an “A” certificate to the film, why are children
allowed to go to such films?
There is no doubt, some logic behind Priyanka’s
arguments. However, it remains to be seen how much response she gets to her points
of view.
