Vidhu Vinod Chopra signs Humaima Malik for his film

Vidhu Vinod Chopra has signed the Pakistani actress Humaima Malik for his next film. The 3 Idiots star Sharman Joshi will also be seen in the film in a major role. The reports are not yet confirmed, but it is very likely that the Pakistani actress mind indeed land a role in the film.

Bol was her first film in Bollywood that was released in the last year. She then teamed up with Sanjay Dutt in the Soham Shah film where she played Sanju Baba’s wife.

Actress Tanuja Chandra will be back on the big screen through this Vidhu Vinod Chopra film. However, there has yet no word from the actress about the project. The film is said to have two heroes and one of them as Sharman Joshi. The other leading hero of the film is to be finalized.

Ek Tha Tiger earns Rs. 210 crores in 11 days

Salman Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger and the star himself are making records with each passing day. In just 11 days, since the release, the film has grossed a whopping amount of Rs. 11 crores. The good thing is that the film is still running to packed houses all over the world. No wonder, money will still keep pouring in.

It took only five days for the film to enter the Rs. 100 crore club. There is no doubt that the film is easily the all time blockbuster. The film has a total of more than Rs. 210 crores from India and abroad business. It is learnt that the bulk of the amount – Rs. 175 crores comes from India only.

The top three films in terms of Indian collection are –

3 Idiots – it grossed a nett amount of Rs. 202 crores

Ek Tha Tiger (still growing strong) – Rs. 175 crores nett

Bodyguard – Rs. 148 crores nett.

Ek Tha Tiger is quite close to breaking the record set by 3 Idiots. Let us see if Salman Khan can do the magic once again?

Mona Singh back to fiction shows

The hot and happening Mona Singh will be seen in a new fiction serial on the small screen. Mona Singh, who almost single-handedly ruled the show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, in which she played the character of Jassi, will now be seen in Bas Itnii Si Baat. This new show will be aired on Sony.

Another show that made Mona a household name was Entertainment Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega. Apart from that Mona Singh was also seen in 3 Idiots, with superstar actors like Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan. The win in the dace reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa was a prominent milestone in Mona’s career.

She successfully played the anchor for other shows like Star Ya Rockstar and for Shaadi Teen Crore Ki.

Coming back to Bas Itnii Si Baat, there aren’t any details available at present. And that is because the entire concept of the show is under wraps as of now. However, it is expected that Mona will be seen in a typical Indian house-wife role as a middle aged woman.

Ra.One doing well in cinemas

The much anticipated opening of Ra.One might not have broken the record set by Salman Khan’s Bodyguard. However the film is certainly eyeing records in the Hindi film industry. Bodyguard had grossed more than Rs. 21 crores on the opening day. Ra.One however failed around Rs. 3 crores short of that target.

The film opened to around 3000 screens in the domestic market – India. 500 screens showed the film in 3D. The film was released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in India occupying around 3100 screens. On the other hand, Bodyguard had opened to lesser – 2750 screens. It is expected that the sci-fi earned about Rs. 15 to 16 crores through the Hindi version alone.

A single day grossing for any film until now has been Bodyguard followed by 3 Idiots. It is expected that the sic-fi has toppled 3 Idiots in terms of a single day grossing. But due to the Diwali festival, there was not full occupancy for all the screens.

But trade analysts have something more positive to predict about Ra.One. According to them Thursday could be the most important day for the film. It may even topple Bodyguard’s single day earning too. There has been a good amount of bookings for Thursday already.

There has been a lot of expenditure on the overall film so to say. Around 3500 VFX shots have been used in the film and this could be a record in itself. The work of special effects was outsourced to various studios in Paris, London and Bangkok apart from the United States, of course. As much as Rs. 52 crores were spent on marketing alone.

Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan: Films worth Rs. 100 cr.

Salman Khan, Aamir Khan – two prominent Khans in Bollywood along with Ajay Devgan is the top three actors whose films have grossed more than Rs. 100 cr. The figures are only of the domestic market. This shows the tremendous love for these actors their fans have.

Salman Khan’s Ready and Dabangg are the two films which have grossed more than one billion rupees. 3 Idiots has proved to be the top grosser in the history of Bollywood. It is accompanied by Aamir Khan’s another film Ghajini. Ghajini also crossed the one billion mark in the film’s business.

When on one hand Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have a couple of films to boast of, Ajay Devgan has only one. However, that film has also made a lasting impression and proved to be a hit. We are talking about Golmaal 3. The entire Golmaal trilogy is a pleasure to watch for any comedy lover.

Singham which is doing well at the box office is threatening the second and third place films – Dabangg and Ready. The film is staring at setting records for the second and the third week gross earnings. If Singham keeps getting this sort of response for some more days, it will certain topple either Dabangg or Ready.

Farhan Akhtar to play cricketer in Abhishek Kapoor's next film

If reports are to be believed, then Farhan Akhtar will be seen as a cricketer in Abhishek Kapoor's next film. The film is based on the book of Chetan Bhagat, titled 3 Mistakes Of My Life. There are even reports out as to which character Farhan Akhtar will be playing.

They are terming his character a mix of Aamir Khan in two different films – one from Lagaan and one from 3 Idiots. It seems that Farhan Akhtar is very serious about his role in the film. He seems to be going Aamir Khan’s way. It is heard that Farhan Akhtar will be taking cricketing lessons from a professional.

The two books written by Chetan Bhagat have a slight similarity and yet both books were turned into films. Both his books Five Point Someone and 3 Mistakes Of My Life are based on the story of three friends. When on one hand, Aamir played the character of Rancho in 3 Idiots; Farhan will be playing the character of Ishaan in his upcoming film.

Well, if there is so much similarity in both the films, why make the later one, when one already has the idea of the story? Moreover, the game of cricket and patriotism forms the moral fiber of the film.

Only the film has the answer to these questions!

Miss India Kanishtha Dhankar is not interested in item numbers

One of the probable candidates of the Miss World title, Miss India Kanishtha Dhankar, is not at all interested in item numbers. When on one hand, even the established actresses of Bollywood like Malaika Arora Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are looking at the option of item numbers seriously, here is one such would-be actress who is refusing this trend altogether.

Though Kanishtha Dhankar is yet nowhere in the films, she is talking about the future where she herself talks about the ifs and buts of her entry in the film industry, especially the Bollywood.

Kanishtha has even determined to herself that she would do a film that would give out a social message. She even stated examples of films like Guzaarish and 3 Idiots. Though she is not sure of her own future in the film industry, she is dreaming of working with renowned directors like Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap.

Though Kanishtha is not known to be a film personality at all, she has observed the well-known directors pretty well. She feels that Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap have their own ways of handling the topics.

We don’t know if she will bring the beauty crown home, but she has already prepared the platform for her entry in Bollywood. We hope she isn’t yet another Poonam Pandey, who just runs her mouth.
